Caffè Moak was born in Modica, a city symbolic of the chocolate tradition. During Arab rule, Modica was called Mohac, and founder Giovanni Spadola wanted to pay homage to his hometown by choosing to name his company after his homeland. We wanted to pay homage to Modica not only with our name, but also with our chocolate. Our Modica IGP cinnamon chocolate combines fine cocoa mass, cane sugar and a sprinkling of cinnamon powder, while maintaining the characteristic rough and grainy texture typical of artisanal processing. A taste experience that recalls the Sicilian tradition and the richness of its flavors. A chocolate that has conquered us, as it has those who have savored it over the centuries.
The Aztecs prepared a drink called xocoatl with cocoa beans, flavored with local spices. Thanks to Spanish conquerors, the recipe arrived in Modica, where sugar was added, resulting in the chocolate we know today. Still handcrafted according to tradition, Modica chocolate is a delicacy that will make you fall in love, as it did us.
